It seems like the majority of pet info available on here is dog and cat focused... and the little I found on birds is quite old and littered with broken links.

Has anyone out there had a more recent experience bringing a parrot with them to the UK? Any idea about the costs?
All I've gathered through Googling is that there will be a lot of forms to fill out and permits to obtain. Between paperwork, vet visits, airline crate/carrier requirements, and trying to struggle through legalese, I feel quite lost and overwhelmed. I'm worried that if I try to tackle this on my own, my bird will end up in limbo somewhere, or stuck in quarantine.
Should I hire a pet moving company? I feel like having a pro handle everything for me would lift a huge chunk of stress off my shoulders... but after paying for a wedding, plus my visa application and moving costs, I'm not exactly rolling in dough.

Any and all info or advice would be much appreciated! Here's a rundown of my situation:
Species - African Red-Bellied Parrot
Has no leg band (vet removed it) and bird is too small for microchipping.
Tentative Birdie Move Date - May 2015
Departing From - Logan Airport, Boston, MA
Arriving At - Heathrow Airport, London, UK
Intended Airline - British Airways
