Wishing to stay Scottish
« on: September 04, 2014, 08:33:27 PM »
Greetings and Salutations to all!

I was introduced to this community by another American in the UK.

A little bit about myself, I'm Minnesotan and I have been living in Scotland with a 4 tier student Visa. I expect to get a MSc in computer science at the end of the month.

I truly wish to spend more time in this beautiful country but I am struggling to understand the bureaucracy involved getting a job and staying in the UK.

Any advice on how to go about finding work and visa applications would be appreciated.

As you would be transitioning from a a Tier 4, an employer would not need to complete the Resident Labour Market Test (proving that no one else in the UK or EU is qualified for the position).  However, you would need to find a job with an employer willing to sponsor a Tier 2 visa prior to your current visa's expiry date.

This can be done but will be challenging.  How much time do you have left on your visa?  It can take a few months for everything to be approved.  Hopefully you haven't left it too late.  Best of luck.
