Help Needed!! Can I use a ceiling light from the US in the UK?

Hello, looking for some advice. I've found a very nice ceiling light (chandelier) in the US and want to use it here in the UK. Now I know some US electrics run off a 110 voltage.

Would this chandelier work? If not is there anything we can do to alter it?

You would probably need to have it rewired.

I was an electrician before moving to England. Most chandeliers in the states would hang from the electrical box I the ceiling. In the UK they don't use the same method. So it would need to be bodged, as for the electricity supply the UK does have double the power going to the fixture. I think you should pass!

We just did this successfully. A US electrician told me that all "new" US light fixtures are manufactured to handle 240 v. We had a UK electrician install, and ordered 240v bulbs (important, US 120v bulbs will blow!), that fit US chandelier from http://www.uklightbulbs.co.uk/.
