Pregnant and Separated
« on: February 04, 2014, 07:37:36 AM »
Anyone else going through their pregnancy alone because of the new financial requirement? Its tearing me apart. I've been in and out of the hospital from stress. Anyone else going through the same?

I know you and I are due around the same time (I'm due April 9th).  While I'm not alone, I can certainly relate to the scary unknowns about pregnancy.  And I'm giving birth in the UK (and everything I know about labor and delivery is US-based from family and friends).  My family is in the US so I have a tiny support network in the UK.

How are you getting on?  Will you fiance be coming over for the birth?  I know we can't plan when we will deliver but hopefully since the UK gives so much holiday time plus paternity leave, he can go to the US for at least a month or so to be there when his child is born.

Do you know what you are having?

Yes, I was in the same position years ago.  Not because of the financial requirements, but because of the old age rule.

Well at the time I'm not even sure if he can come as he's trying to meet the financial requirement through overtime since he works a non salaried job. I've been in and out of the hospital due to stress and not knowing if I can come back to the U.K and being without my boyfriend. I'm having a little girl. Congrats on your little one.

Good luck!  Try not to stress too much (easier said than done)!!

It'll work out in the end.

Its really tough seeing couple's together and being in the hospital alone during my ultrasound scans. My boyfriend and our baby are like my little stars I just want all of us together. I'm trying really hard to hang in there for both of them Thank You. I applaud you for keeping strong when you were separated by your loved one.

It's not applicable anymore, but the minimum age to apply for a spouse (fiance, etc) visa used to be 21 years old.  It's now been lowered to 18 years old, but at the time, many couples faced separation until they turned 21.
