Adding your UKC spouse to US credit cards?

Hi all,

I am finally making headway 2 months after arriving in the UK. I'm on a joint bank account with my husband and on his UK credit card as an authorized user, EHIC, etc, etc.
I am keeping my US credit cards dormant but open and want to add my husband. Do they all ask for a US SSN or has anyone been able to do this with just a name and a US mailing address?

I don't think they ask for an authorized user's social security number.

I added DH years ago to a CC I still maintain. No SSN required for that.

So far, I have been asked for my husband's SSN. Thanks, anyway; I'll give them a call.
