Driving Queries...
« on: April 15, 2015, 07:13:14 PM »
Hi guys,

Wondering if you could clear this up for me as a newbie who arrived here on my spousal visa this week (yay! ;D)

I want to know about the legalities of driving here... I have read somewhere that I am entitled to drive here for a year during which time I have to pass my tests to continue... is this true and if so is it a case of me being legally not allowed to drive one year to the date I entered the UK on my spousal visa?

Also, in order for me to learn to drive here and do my theory/practical test, do I have to apply for a UK provisional driving license?

Is there anything else about driving legality here I need to know?

In all honesty I have never driven stick and on the other side of the road so I'd ideally like to get proper lessons here and pass my tests before I actually drive here in spite of me being legally allowed to, but I just want to know exactly where I stand.

Any help and advice would be gratefully received.

Thanks!
