Sheffield Neighborhoods

Just wondering if anyone can provide any suggestions for neighborhoods in Sheffield or the surrounding areas?  I finally got a job, but it does mean relocating.  We have been using the weekends to go and check out neighborhoods and surrounding towns and villages, but of course any help or suggestions would be great!

I am not very knowledgable of the Sheffield area, but when we first got back this Spring we were looking for houses in the area just North of Sheffield. We wanted to stay within fairly easy driving distance of Harrogate. Really liked the Stocksbridge/Deepcar area.....close to Sheffield but with a lot less people, quieter, and pretty decent house prices. Pretty area as well....but I think all that area is pretty.

Ah, yes, we drove by on our way back to Bolton.  It is a lovely area!

We live in Walkley at present and like it, though we are looking to move to Leeds as I got a job there and the commute is killing me (husband can work from home the majority of the week).  It's pretty down to earth but I guess is "gentrifying" (it has a vinyl record shop ...) and has great parks. It depends on what kind of neighbourhood you're looking for.

Thanks for the recommendation, we will take a look into it this weekend.  Unfortunately we aren't moving until September, which means I will be driving an hour and 45 minutes twice a day :/
