Border Force Registered Traveller
« on: July 09, 2015, 02:17:45 PM »
Anyone received an email from Border Force advertising the Registered Traveller program?   First thought was scam.   I found the program checking the website directly.  Seems similar to the TSA Pre Check but bit more expensive.

Dear Xxxxx Xxxxx

Registered Traveller is a new service launched by Border Force to give faster and more convenient entry to the UK for nationals from the US, Australia, Japan, Canada and New Zealand.

The service is already proving popular with members, who benefit from:

Access to ePassport gates at airports across the country
Use of the UK / EU queue at specified ports
A dedicated Registered Traveller lane at Gatwick Airport
Not needing to complete a landing card on arrival to the UK
No credibility interview with a Border Force officer.
Membership costs £70 and further details of eligibility and availability can be found online.

You can apply online  now

Kind Regards

Registered Traveller Team

Yes I got the email too, debating whether or not to apply..... if I don't, I know when I am standing in line for like EVER at passport control, I will surely regret not spending that 70 pounds!!  ;D

I figure since I am back and forth, anywhere from 3-6 times per year, it averages out to about $20 - $25 a trip, which is well worth to me anyway, to not have to stand in that long line!  :D
If I only made the trip once or even twice a year, I don't think I would bother though.

I got the email too. I don't travel back and forth often enough to make it worth my while though.

Whatever happened to IRIS (Iris Recognition Immigration System)?   This was maybe 10 years or so ago.  You went to an office at LHR and they took a picture of your eyes.  Then you got to use the fancy booth at Immigration just by scanning your passport and staring at a camera.  Usually no queue for that.  Didn't cost anything, as I remember.
