Moving to UK, need help with marriage visa!
« on: July 13, 2015, 03:12:47 PM »
Hello! My fiancé is British and we're getting married in the states this September. I'm then moving to the UK to live with him. I have questions regarding two things:

1. Can I apply for my visa in the states and then join my husband in the UK for our honeymoon? Can my visa be mailed to me so I can stay in the UK from that point on?

2. Do I need to apply for the healthcare surcharge? Can I apply for it with the visa or does it need to be done separately?

Thanks so much and I appreciate any and all help regarding this!

The UKVI will have your passport while your application is processing, so you won't be able to leave the US.  You can't apply until after you have your marriage certificate in hand.  After you receive your visa, you'll have 30 days to enter the UK.

Yes, you need to pay the NHS surcharge.  This needs to be paid prior to applying for your visa (just before) as you have to include you payment confirmation on the application.

Does your fiancé meet all the requirements to sponsor you?

Yeah, visas suck all the romance out of weddings and honeymoons!
