Same thought occurred to me.  Who gets on to make their first and only post about UPAKWESHIP? And it might help if they send someone who clearly speaks English.  Personally I had a pretty good experience with them, although I wasn't at all happy with the European side of things, but there are plenty of others more recently that haven't been happy.  People coming on here to spam us with glowing reviews doesn't help anyone as we don't buy it.

Definitely a sock puppet.

A reputable removals company doesn't need those.

There's a lot of great feedback here everyone :)

If you have a minute you should submit a review on UK Yankee's new mover review page (do it by the end of February and you'll have the chance to win 100 pounds):

Moved from Chicago to London and paid for pickup/delivery on both ends.  Was quoted a delivery date of 5-7 weeks from the date of pickup.  It's now week 7 and even though my things have cleared customs, I've just been told that they will only "aim" to tell me more information about my delivery date in 7-10 working days.  Very frustrating because it appears that I will receive my things at least 3 weeks later than I was quoted.  This is NOT an issue with customs, this is an issue with their delivery service (EuroGroup's third party delivery service in the UK).  In addition, they've told me that for the $200 I pre-paid for delivery to London, I am only entitled to have the delivery people go to the first floor, even though I live on the 8th.  They will go up one floor in the lift, but not 8.  So they will move all my things to the elevator, go up to the 1st floor, move them out of the lift, then I have to personally put them all back in the lift and bring them up 7 more floors.  WHAT?  So ridiculous.  They advertise "door to door" and "moving company", but when I ask about that they say it's only "curb" or "first floor" and have told me "we're not movers".  Maybe this is standard for all companies, but I wish I was warned first, so here you go!  Beware.

This is pretty standard with most shipping companies, the 1st floor thing (also charging more for longer distances, like a long hallway or having to park far away). It's pretty ridiculous, the fine print on the delivery side. However, in saying that, most companies will charge you extra in order to deliver it to your door. It's a racket, that's for sure, but if the company itself won't help you out, perhaps a 50 & a couple of bacon butties will change their minds.

UPAKWESHIP - GREAT EXPERIENCE
« Reply #23 on: June 03, 2014, 10:49:42 AM »
Summary:  Great Experience
Just moved from London to New York (Connecticut really). I received several quotes from companies (both high end and mainstream), and they averaged around $7000 GBP door to door.

I hate paying more than normal rates for things.  I hate that if you call up a florist or photographer and tell them you need them for some work it costs X, but then you mention the word wedding and it costs 3X.  So, I know from experience that containers only cost a few thousand dollars to ship across the pond
(like $2k), and it just didn't make sense that our move would then suddenly cost $12k.  Who pays that anyway?  Corporations!

Since I was paying out of my pocket,  I tried the obvious which is piecing together the move (remove the fat middle man) and called some commercial shipping companies.  They seemed very professional, and they were in the ballpark (a little higher) than UPAK. However, it involved several companies, and so you always have some risk where it isn't one person responsible.  The single reason I wasn't jumping all over UPAK was this old thread with some negative comments.

I don't know if I'm doing good or bad by replying here, since it keeps the thread alive... but it's also the first google entry when you search under upakweship.

Anyway, my experience was great.  I was  moving stuff that filled a 20 foot container.  I probably spent $5500 total including hiring movers on both sides.  We packed most of our personal things in the weeks running up to the move, but I admit that I underestimated the packing required on the front end, and I probably should have had movers there for at least a day (everyone quoted three days).  As it is, it all worked out ok, and they were able to pack the stuff and get it in the truck on time.

I'm very glad I tried them, and would absolutely use and recommend them.  I don't spend a lot of time writing reviews, but this is one where I spent so much time thinking about what was written in these pages, and the staff were so friendly and helpful (contrary to some reviews here ... given yes I know they are 5 years old).

The truck was sealed, and I was told the ship would sail about a week later.  About a month after the goods left (maybe 5 weeks), they were sitting in front of me.  The only thing I would mention, maybe this was written somewhere, not sure... When I asked the driver to open the doors he said I need to cut the customs pin (that we used to lock it).  But he didn't have bolt cutters.  Luckily I was at a storage place which had some... But that's the only hint I would give.. ask about that and make sure you have a cutter to unlock the container.

So bottom line is, the staff, Chris in UK and Stephanie in US, were super friendly, helpful, and everything was easy and smooth.  I'm glad I tried them, and I hope I'm helping them and the rest of us by posting this experience.

I guess I'm keeping this thread alive with my first post too.

I'm moving back from the USA to UK. I'd used Movecorp on the way out and they were good, so I chose them for the return but they messed me about leaving me with only a few days to arrange an alternative shipping company.

I chose EuroUSA.  Having read some admittedly older negative reviews I'm slightly worried, but as I'm not too stressed about how long it takes for my shipment to arrive in the UK and with two days to go before I move, I'll have to take my chances!

I'll let you know in a couple of months how things go.
