California girl in Glasgow!
« on: July 20, 2015, 04:16:24 PM »
Hi everyone!

Im not new to the UK, but I am new to this forum. I have been in Glasgow since 2011 from the Bay Area, CA studying at the University of Glasgow. I am excited (and sad) that my time is coming to an end here in the UK. I've recently been thinking about staying a little longer and finding a job.

However, I know it is a challenge to find a job that will also provide a sponsorship as well. So, I thought I'd come and join the group and make some new friends as well! I look forward to sharing my new journey and next chapter in life (hopefully here in the UK) with you guys!  :) haha

Thanks!

April

Hi April!  Welcome to UK-Yankee!

I don't have anything to add regarding finding work here, but I wish you great good luck in finding something that will allow you to stay here.  I'm also from the SF Bay Area, specifically Castro Valley where I lived over 20 years.  It's a beautiful area and there are many things I miss about living there even though I'm very glad to be here.

What part are you from?
Here 2 years as of Oct. 1, 2016.

Hi Becca!!

Oh, I love going to Lake Chabot for summer picnics and walks/runs around the trails. Im from Walnut Creek!  :)

I feel the same, the bay is a beautiful wonderful place (lots of good food too)! But the UK has definitely grown on me. Do you get a chance to visit home often?

I worked in Walnut Creek for almost 5 years, and my grandmother lived in Rossmoor so I know it well!

I haven't gone back for a visit yet because I've only recently moved here on a fiance visa (now married and on my first FLR-M).  It looks like I'll be going home next year for sure since my daughter is expecting her first child in March!
Here 2 years as of Oct. 1, 2016.

We are just about to move over to Glasgow! I'm a UK citizen but I just got a job working for an American company. I wonder if it would be easier for you to get sponsorship for a company based in the US but with offices in the UK?
