Travel insurance one way US to UK?
« on: August 15, 2015, 11:55:38 AM »
Hi Everyone,

I'm trying to find out whether I need to buy travel insurance for my wife's flights from WV to London at the end of the month.

Due to a spate of recent health issues and a hospital stay, I think it would be difficult to cover her health-wise for the trip, but I'm also not sure that it's really necessary as she is significantly better now. Saying that, if she had a relapse and wasn't able to travel, we would be in trouble!

She will be flying with a large reputable airline, with one changeover in the US. She will only have one checked suitcase and carry-on in terms of luggage.

So basically I'd be covering her checked baggage (which is pretty much just clothes) and any flight delays or cancellations. Is it possible to only insure these, and not her health stuff?

Is it worth trying to buy insurance, and if so does it need to be purchased from a US provider (if so, where can I compare/buy)? My wife has never traveled outside the US and has no idea about this stuff from a US perspective - plus she has enough to sort out!

Any experience or suggestions welcome - thanks!
