Separation from children during application process
« on: August 26, 2015, 04:28:31 PM »
Hi. New to this, but currently going through spouse visa app. My husband is a British citizen. We've been married for 9 years and have two children 4 and 7 who are dual nationals. The three of them have British passports and are due to start school and work next week while I remain in the US in limbo over visa. We applied as soon as he had a job there that met the financial requirements for a family of four. We need no government assistance and have provided all of the evidence to support this. My question is, does anyone know of a way I can expedite things at this point or if anything can be done to prevent my children from having to travel without me when I am now being told that it could take at least another two months until I could join them. This is very distressing to us as a family and any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks!

As your children are British, he only needs to be earning £18,600 a year (and have been doing so before his move).  When you apply, use priority processing.  Applications are currently taking less than 3 weeks with priority.

That sounds hard for all of you, and especially for the children.  I'd suggest talking to the school to see if they'll agree to the children coming late.  Then you can keep them with you until the visa is sorted.
