Hi all,
forgive me if this has been asked a million times but I'm short on time...
I am filling out tax forums for a job I start this week.
A little background-
I lived and worked in the UK for 3 years married to a brit, under a spouse visa. We married in the UK. We recently over the past 2 months decided to divorce. I am back living in the US alone, and I just got a new job. My soon to be ex husband is handling the paperwork in the UK. He didn't send the divorce papers in yet so legally we are still married. I never registered my marriage in the US.
My questions
-in general, for US job paperwork, tax forms, cell phone plans, car loans, credit cards, any sort of paperwork that requires my details, etc, am I married? single? divorced? *i never registered my marriage in the US*
-what is my federal filing status? I can't remember what I put when I did taxes last year.
I'm still using my maiden name in the US.
I don't have to register my marriage in the US and then register it as divorced do I? :/
Do I have to do anything regarding my name or my marriage in terms of registration in the US?

Sorry if this seems a little scattered I've had such a headache moving back and sorting everything out.
Thanks!
