"Escalation"
« on: February 26, 2016, 03:44:03 PM »
I was wondering if anyone has received and positive results from the UKVI International Inquiry Service escalating your case.

I applied with, in my opinion, a very straightforward application and paid priority.  I sent in out on 16 Feb, and received email confirmation from Sheffield on 18 Feb.  After reading on here about some others receiving their "decision made" emails, I used the free email service to enquire about my status (I know there have been past instances of this information being misleading, but decided to give it a go anyways). For the past week, I've been getting the same response that "your application has been processed and a
decision was made and it should be with you in the next few days."

I still hadn't heard anything today, so I bit the bullet and called in.  The guy told me his system shows a decision was made last week, but as I have yet to hear anything,  he would escalate the case to the"relevant department."

Does anyone know what this "relevant department" is and if it will be of any help?  I am beginning to worry because there should be no reason to deny the visa, yet why would it be sitting in the office for so long after a decision has been made?  Any insight would be much appreciated!

Calling is a waste of time and money, I'm afraid.  They'll tell you they've escalated the case but it's pretty meaningless.

While most people receive the emails, not everyone does.  Sometimes the visa will just show up on your doorstep.  If you've ticked the boxes and shown the relevant proof, your visa will be approved.   :)

That's what I assumed, but I am getting anxious.  I have the tracking number,as I went with the VFS return courier service, and there is no sign of activity on it.

All the speculation of why it would just be sitting in their office is driving me crazy! For all I know the EO assigned to my case went on holiday this week (wishful thinking), but it does seem odd to me that a decision was allegedly made a day after they received it and I have not been notified yet.  :-\\\\

Well, first the call line does not have access to your application.  So they don't actually know if a decision has been made or not.   ::)

Also, the UKVI isn't the most efficiently run service out there.  We've had people who's visas were approved two weeks prior to them getting the "decision made" email and having the visa returned.   :-\\\\

I know it's really hard when others around you are getting their decisions.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you and let us know when you've got your good news!   :D

I'm one of those cases. After trying to call numerous times we were told a decision was made. Then about a week later, I got the email. It wasn't for another two weeks or so that I actually had my visa returned. The date on my visa was around the time we were told a decision was made via phone. I know the wait is awful and stressful, but stay positive. It will come :)

Thanks for the support!  I am trying my best to stay calm and keeping my fingers crossed that I will hear something this week...

If you still haven't heard anyway the end of this week hokie, some people have had luck writing into their local MP. While MP's have no influence in the decision making, they can look into the status for you and from what I have read, when others do this, things suddenly seem to speed up for them! But definitely wait first (easier said than done, I know!).

I am wondering HOW you escalated your case, as in which form did you use?

Thanks.

Hello,

I am wondering HOW you escalated your case, as in which form did you use?

Thanks.

When I reached out through the online system for status they emailed back asking me to provide additional information so that they could escalate the request....I can't say if it did anything, they aim to respond after one day but after three working days I had not heard anything so I emailed HO directly, I got some activity after that but can't tell which action actually prompted it.

I know people say that the online system doesn't have access to applications but I assume they would work much like a help desk that can see notes and comments form ECO entered into some sort of software..now whether they interpret it correctly, grab the right case, or ECO entered the right notes, prob a diff story.  Here is the link I used:

https://www.gov.uk/contact-ukvi-outside-uk

Again my requests were for status updates, I think after providing the date of my application (January 11, 2016) and seeing that I still have not received a decision that must have prompted them to ask me for the information in order to escalate.

You really can't make any assumptions with UKVI. Cause you know what they saying about what happens when you assume something.

Contacting UKVI or the Home Office directly is the only way you will get any real information or movement on your application.

Heh, well given my current situation and emails I received from HO and Katoo's situation can't say either one seems very competent unfortunately :P

You find that everywhere.

At my last house an electric company my neighbours were trying to switch to changed my house and not theirs. That took multiple hour long phone calls to fix and several months.

UKVI does how many thousands of applications without errors?
That's the Spousal, Tiered, FLR, and ILR applications. It sucks to be the person who gets the mistake, and you have the right be annoyed and upset about it but they have to follow their rules to fix it.

And in my case, when my second visa app was refused, it would have been within their right to refuse me again, but you know what? They were nice about it and asked for one last bit of info to prove my husband was earning the right amount and granted my visa a week after I was denied.
