The important item for you will be the amount your wife had to pay tax on.

Need to look at:
Business had gross income of: £xxxx
Business had expenses of:£xxx
Subtract expenses from income to see what the amount claimed to HMRC was.  If she was TAXED on £18,600 or more, you are good to go.

Before expenses,

this is for 6 months ..she opened her shop June -2013 I told the accountant we need a year...last time I checked...

OK I will try and explain this properly, I am trying to get the  gist on this so it is right ...  so the tax yr is  April 5 -2015 to April 5 -2016.

Would they look at anything back from April 2015  to April 2014 to April 2013 that's when she ran a loss as she just opened. Her shop

My wife thinks they wil. Look at that because of the losses.. I am saying it's for the fiscal year  2015...2016

Hope I explained this properly

They will only consider her income AFTER expenses, not before.

So if her £23,000 is before expenses, but she had expenses of more than £4,400, you won't qualify for the visa.

It depends what Category you apply under. If you apply under Category F, they will only look at total earnings AFTER expenses (before tax) between April 2015 and April 2016.

If you apply under Category G, they will look at the average income after expenses (before tax) earned over the 2 financial years between April 2014 and April 2016... This average must be at least £18,600.
