Marriage in Denmark
« on: January 29, 2016, 03:29:20 AM »
My British fiance and I were considering a wedding in Denmark, as it's quicker and more convenient for us. (Afterwards I would fly alone to NYC and apply for a spouse visa).  Has anyone here been married in Denmark? Is it true that the only document required is your passport?

Better hope they don't empty your pockets and confiscate any money they find.

It took me a minute to get that.

I was thinking, "You know Denmark isn't like that....."

And then it hit that it's just about refugees....

But then I thought, "I guess Denmark is like that.....if you are fleeing for your life."
I just hope that more people will ignore the fatalism of the argument that we are beyond repair. We are not beyond repair. We are never beyond repair. - AOC

They deserve a bit of grief after their latest decision to curb the flow of refugees by confiscating their money.  Next it will be taking gold teeth and shaving heads

If you are making a political statement, kudos... but my fiance and I are not refugees. And my question is unanswered. Do you want to make another thread for that?

It is that easy in NYC.  That's where we married.  Only needed passports and 24 hour waiting period, left with our marriage certificate.

I don't recall anyone on the forum marrying in Denmark.
