45mm x 35mm photo for work visa application?
« on: April 22, 2014, 07:13:18 PM »
So I have my biometrics appointment in a few days.  They say they require a photo that is 45x35mm with some other requirements like no trimming, light grey or beige background, etc.

I cannot for the life of me find a place that can do photos of that size.  It appears to not be a standard size here.  And everyone around me can't do it for whatever reason.

I've tried the post office, UPS store, Walgreens, etc.  Everyone says the same thing.  They can't or they just get confused.

Not sure if this site has photos for the visa category but I use www.epassports.com to get passport photos of the correct size for the UK.  You take the pic and load to the site, then they send you the pic cut to the standards of that country.
2001 - moved to the UK on a student visa
2002 - 2 year work visa (and met hubby later that year)
2004 - moved w UKC hubby to US
2012 - UKC hubby now a dual national (USC)
Apr 2015 - moved back to UK w DH and two DD

A standard passport sized photograph from Walgreens or CVS will work just fine, US passport photos are usually 2"x2", but the dimensions of the head/face fit within what's required for the visa, they wil just trim the photo down a little bit when you send it in
Unless you can ask the people at cvs or Walgreens to change the dimensions to 45x35mm
But I, as well as many others, have sent in the standard US sized photos

As FutureMrsHandy2014 said, 35x45mm photographs are not absolutely essential. If you can't find anywhere that will do them in that size, you can just send regular US-sized passport photos.

Okay well...

I got some photos at a Walgreens.  They had no idea how to CUT the photos without trimming them.  Also one instructions I have says no TINTED glasses, no glare on your glasses, but seems to suggest you can wear glasses.  Another one at www.go.uk says I can't wear glasses with frames at all.  And what do I have?  Glasses with frames...  XP

You didn't have to have them trimmed at Walgreens, it would have been perfectly fine to send them in as they were. (:

They're on giant pieces of paper from Walgreens and have two photos on each page.  I assume I'd have to trim/cut that.

Also the instructions say "plain cream or plain light-grey background".  My only options at places seems to be pure WHITE.

Giant pieces of paper? That's really weird...  Is it atleast 2"x2" and on picture quality paper?
Did you ask for passport photos?

When I went to have mine taken (at a walgreens here in Texas) I just told them I need 2 passport photos and when they were handed to me, it was two separate 2"x2" photos inside this little pamphlet-like thing that held them....

I live in Texas and went to Walgreens to have my UK passport photo taken. If the person in the photo department is knowledgeable they will look at what they need to do. I was told by the person working there that passport photos is their biggest seller!

If you need to go back and get them done, ask for UK Passport sized photos. Its in their computer system. But it is ok to send in US sized ones as well.
