A British wanna-be (and family)

Hello, everyone! 

I'm of UK ancestry, a US citizen, currently looking for ways to become British again.

Paternal grandfather's family were Scottish and Canadian; paternal grandmother's family were English and Welsh. The yearning for UK citizenship is in my blood!

My husband is legally blind, a foodie with a food blog, and we have a 15yo son who is brilliantly autistic and wants to study Engineering (of course). Me, I'm a writer with aspirations of fame and fortune. Glad to be here!

Are you a Canadian citizen as well? If you are, then your ancestry can help you in your quest to become British. If you're American, your options are limited to work or study (as you're already married), and study doesn't lead to citizenship.

Work will be a tough one for you as a writer; unless you're an internationally acclaimed name, there's no real way to get a work visa for writing. Your best bet would be to look for a US-based company with offices in the UK so you might make an intra-company transfer when you have enough seniority.

Unfortunatley that visa won't lead to British citizenship either. It would just be a temporary stay.
