VFS Settlement Priority Visa
« on: April 06, 2016, 07:20:26 PM »
For expedited Settlement visa - this is the only service I need to purchase from VFS, correct? The one for $653? This will get it there and to the front of the line, and when I purchase it I can purchase return label for the return of my documents?

Just triple checking so I don't miss something!

Thanks! :)

There are two services available to you on the VFS website:

1) Settlement Priority Service - $653
- this gets your application put to the front of the processing line when your package arrives in Sheffield (obviously, behind any other priority applications already there)

2) Return or Round-Trip Shipping Service (UPS shipping)
- $141 for just the return UPS shipping from Sheffield, so you need to sort out your own shipping to Sheffield (either with UPS or DHL)
or
- $227 for round-trip UPS shipping (you'll need to go to a UPS store to get one of their envelopes to ship it in)

If you decide not to purchase any shipping from VFS, you'll need to go to UPS or DHL yourself to ship it out, and then create an online account with the courier and include your online account number with your documents, so Sheffield can charge the return shipping to your account.

If I'm trying to move in the middle of May, is the additional return service recommended on top of priority processing? This will just ensure I get my passport back in time to move, right?

The return service is nothing more than pre-paid, fixed-price UPS shipping. It has nothing to do with how fast you get your visa back, it's just one option for paying for the shipping back from Sheffield. Whichever you use it will normally only take a couple of days to receive it.

Either you purchase the shipping on the VFS website for $141 or you set up an online account with UPS or DHL and let the shipping be charged to you when Sheffield send it back (because you can't normally pre-pay international return shipping) ... But this may cost more or less than $141.

What you could do is take all your documents to the courier yourself and find out how much it will cost to ship them to Sheffield - if it's less than VFS then you might not want to bother purchasing the shipping service, but if it's more expensive, the VFS shipping might be the way to go.

It's only giving me an option for a $218 priority service visa and round trip courier is $54. Am I missing something?

Is it not a flat rate of $563 and $141 if purchased services through VFS? Tried calling them and was on hold for ages.

Are you selecting the correct priority service? There are two - one for applications processed in New York and one for applications processed in Sheffield.

The applications processed in New York have a priority service costing $218, return shipping for $34 and round trip shipping for $53

The applications processed in Sheffield have a settlement priority service costing $653, return shipping for $141 and round trip shipping for $227.

When you go to purchase the priority service and shipping you need to select the following:

Country of Residence: United States of America
Visa Category: SETTLEMENT
Decision Making Center: Sheffield (should fill out automatically)

Next page:
Sub-visa category: Spouse/civil partner of a settled person

I must have selected something wrong... it says New York for processing center. I tried removing that application but the website won't do it and I can't create another one with the same GWF number or edit that one. Calling them again :\

I went to manage my account and have selected country of residence as USA, Sheffield as VAC, but the only application type and category option in the drop down menu it offers for those 2 is "overseas citizenship". I tried to include a screen shot sorry :( can't

Do you know a way to edit the application information? It won't let me go back to edit or delete the application.

Is there another option other than VFS Global to expedite?

No, that's the only way to do it... because the service isn't provided by VFS, it's provided by UKVI in Sheffield (and the shipping service is provided by UPS, in combination with UKVI in Sheffield).

VFS Global is just the company that UKVI have chosen as their commercial partner to allow you to purchase their services online.

Do you know a way to edit the application information? It won't let me go back to edit or delete the application.

Do you mean the visa application or the VFS account?

Though, either way, I don't believe you can edit or delete.

I would keep trying to contact VFS and see if you get anyway... it sounds like you just need one of the options changing on your account.
