Updating Wills
« on: April 19, 2016, 09:28:35 PM »
I don't know if this pertains to anyone here, but we just updated our Wills. We had already updated things a few years ago while we were still in the US. There was a deal here in Harrogate where for a contribution to St Michaels hospice the solicitors would do it for free. So for £150 we got it done. We are going in Friday to sign the final paper, but it looks like it might only be a couple of pages long.......which is significantly shorter than the bazillion pages we had in the US. A good bit simpler here.....a lot less confusing.......and a hell of a lot cheaper.

And not valid in the US.  If you still have US assets you need to get advice

Which is why we have a Will in the US and now here in the UK. Actually.....there seems to be a bit of leeway in how Wills are interpreted.....and especially in the US where Wills vary from state to state. Both Wills are the same.......the one here is only 2 pages long on the preliminary one we signed, the US Will is.....considerably bigger.
