Silly qu - A4 or legal/letter?!
« on: May 01, 2016, 01:37:09 PM »
Hi all,

If filing a paper copy from the UK, can I print it on A4 paper or does it need to be US legal, or letter sized?!

EDIT - forgot legal is longer; I meant letter!

Thanks!  :D

I think you mean letter, normal 8.5 x11 inch paper? Legal is 8.5 x14inches.

I would assume printing the tax documents onto A4 paper would be fine, just make sure you change the printer settings so the whole document is printed on the page. Letter is about .25 inches wider than A4.
The usual. American girl meets British guy. They fall into like, then into love. Then there was the big decision. The American traveled across the pond to join the Brit. And life was never the same again.

Yes you are right lyonaria, I did mean letter and was editing as you were replying! :)

I am sending in the last 3 years of returns on paper and as it is catching up due to non-willful conduct I just don't want them to reject it over a silly thing like paper size...

Thanks,
J

I have filed quite a few tax returns, not to mention countless other official documents filed with US government agencies, on A4 paper, and never had any complaints due to paper size.

Some US tax regulations, such as those under ... I think ...section 7516, specify letter sized paper, but these rules are never enforced.
