I miss good nachos. Nachos are important to Americans.

There are nachos everywhere in the UK, and they're all terrible. And yet I keep ordering them.

I've attempted this terrible dilemma in my blog: http://expatclaptrap.com/dont-order-nachos-charlie-brown/

Good stuff once again....but I must admit to a weakness for Mr. Whippy....it has just a hint of ozone in it or something..

Hot dogs from a can? How could you be fooled into eating that?

Listen, I think it may be the cleaner the van driver uses on the whippy machine.....there is just a slight tang of something chemical....ozone, but with a hint of burnt sparkler/freshly ejected shotgun shell. A bit of the weasel, if you know what I mean.

Well I had to give them a try....being southern I have enjoyed a can of meat or two....deviled ham....potted meat....Vienna sausage...

So I chose these:

First of all I was intrigued by the "limited edition" sticker. I mean really....

Additionally, I am always interested in anything branded as "hot" or "spicy" in the UK, because I have yet to find a real barn-burner.

But these little guys are sneaky....like a dog that hides under the porch and waits 'till you leave to dart out and bite you; It was in the lonely hours of the night that the Ye Olde Oak Limited Edition Chilli Hot Dogs struck.

Wetherspoons' nachos are not too bad if you skip the salsa... the salsa is revolting.
But I've had them with just the melted cheese, guacamole, sour cream and jalapenos, and found it hit the spot just fine.

But no matter where you go, they're not going to be as good as the nachos you make at home.

More like the little pig that donates his lips and unspeakables  , and he's not the one doing the biting!

A friend of mine used to eat pig brains from a can.  No thanks.

I've definitely been fooled by hot dogs- just not the ones in a can.

You can buy hot dogs here that look sort of legit- wrapped a bit like Hebrew Nationals back home.

But then you realise that they're skinnier, and kind of flavourless and floppy, and  then... AUUUGGHHH!

I fully believe the only place to get a decent hot dog in the UK is Costco! Aside from the ones they sell individually at the café, you can also buy packs of all beef hot dogs, but they were pricey when I went last!

I totally get what you mean about the nachos. The only place for me that was anything remotely like home has been the cinema :-P
