If you read this page:

https://www.ups.com/content/gb/en/shipping/time/service/inter/express.html

It says:
Second business day delivery by 10:30 a.m. or 12:00 noon to most business addresses in the United States and major business areas in Canada

They can say your address isn't one of the ones they can deliver to in 2 days.

And I had also called back in 2013 about why my package was delayed (taking 3 days to arrive) and was told the exact same thing as Redhawk. "Delay due to customs."
The usual. American girl meets British guy. They fall into like, then into love. Then there was the big decision. The American traveled across the pond to join the Brit. And life was never the same again.

Hmm, that's interesting - I couldn't find that page when I looked, so I went through the process of putting the postcodes/zipcodes and package details in and it says for shipping on Monday, it's GUARANTEED to arrive by 10:30 am on Wednesday... that's less than 2 days.

What post code did you use?

It may be that to larger cities near their hubs it may take less time, but to my US address in Western Colorado it took 3 days, longer for one due to a delay while it was in the States.

I used the UKVI Sheffield postcode for pick up and my aunt's zipcode in Arkansas (Little Rock) for delivery.

Yeah, it claims the same thing for my parents' US address. It apparently lies.

I wonder if it actually says it's guaranteed when you make the label and pay for it? The page I'm on only gives me info, no actual costs or anything. I'm not logged in.

Yes it was someone at the UKVI call center, I didn't realize they had nothing to do with Sheffield. It's a bit frustrating that we're made to pay all these fees and they won't even give a way to track an application. it would be nice to know so we can decide whether it's worth sending our daughter over early so we can get her settled in before school starts. She has aspergers and change isn't easy for her.

Who did you talk to, exactly?

The helpline on the UKVI website is pretty useless and is known for giving incorrect advice (they're a random call centre nowhere near Sheffield and generally don't know much about the process at all) - so calling them is generally a waste of time and money.

Priority seems to be taking about 4 weeks at the moment and definitely makes a difference (it always has, so no idea what the person you talked was on about)... It's usually about twice as fast compared with not using priority.

However, as long as you know your documents were received in Sheffield, your visa will be processed.

So your best way to gauge how long it's taking is to keep an eye on the timelines of people here on the forum.

I think this makes 3 people this week who have had their priority applications processed in about 4 weeks.
