Spouse Visa Application Help.
« on: October 13, 2016, 12:17:25 AM »
So I am over in the states visiting my wife as we try and work through this visa application together... we have a few queries...

1- On the visa application it is asking questions regarding my wife's Mother and Farther.. My wife was adopted as a child, so we were wondering whether to put her biological parent's information down or her adopted parent's information down. As an additional note, her biological Farther and her adopted Farther have both now passed away.

2 - Is it worth the cost of having the a solicitor look over the paperwork etc before submitting the application? if so it this better to be done by a UK firm or a US one?

Any input or help with these queries would be much appreciated as always, I also plan to upload a list of documents that we plan to submit with our application soon to see if what we have is adequate! :)

Honestly, as long as you are consistent with the parents (on future applications), it won't matter. I would go with the parents on her birth certificate (which may be her adoptive parents). Who does she call mom and dad (even though her father and biological father have passed away)?

You shouldn't need a lawyer unless you have a complicated immigration issue, like previous refusals, criminal history, etc...

We (on this forum) are happy to answer questions and check document lists for free! We've had a fair few members seek this forum after being lead down the garden path by unscrupulous or ignorant lawyers...
