A2 English test for FLR

I am hoping my wife gets a spouse visa shortly.  After 30 months here, at the time she applies for FLR, she will now have to pass the English language A2 test. 

The question is which courses in this country are accredited and recognised by the Home Office as good preparation for her to take this test.  There are many different ESOL courses where I live.  But are they all okay with the Home Office, so long as the actual test is taken at a HO approved centre, like those run by Trinity College?

I imagine the problem is that if she goes on "any" local ESOL course, how does she know that at the end of the course, she has in fact reached the level required to pass the A2 test?

Is your wife American? If so, she passes the English requirement by being a native speaker.

If not, most of the people here pass the requirement by being citizens so not everyone will know the answer to this one...

Any course is fine as long as she takes a Home Office approved test at a Home Office approved test centre. A2 is a very low level, though, she might not need a course at all. What is her nationality and history of English language learning?

Just to add to what has already been said, if your wife is not a USC, she would also need proof of her English language ability at the initial entry clearance stage, not just for FLR.

I was going to say this - she has to meet the English language requirement for every single visa she applies for, including the spousal visa. If she is a native English speaker/citizen of an English-speaking country, she only needs her passport to meet the requirement.

I don't think you mentioned in your previous posts what country she is from, or how she is meeting the English language requirement for her spousal visa application.

Dave, while you are 100% welcome to use this site if your wife is not applying from the US - just know the advice and information we give is for US applicants.  If we don't know which country your wife is applying from, we could be giving very bad advice!
