JUST GOT MARRIED! ❤ Now what..?
« on: November 07, 2016, 08:20:58 PM »
Hey all!
After reading the advice in this forum, my U.K. man and I decided to get married in the U.S. this past  Saturday!
He unfortunately had to leave straight away, and we only had one day as a married couple before he was back on a plane...
But we are hoping to be reunited as soon as possible, so this is where I need your expertise,  help, and advice!!
Would someone please post the list of ALL the required documents that both he and I need for the Spousal Visa?
I plan on applying after Christmas in January, and paying Priority. Our goal is to be together by his birthday, February 2nd. 😊
Also, any extra hints or tips, what to do, what not to do, are highly appreciated!!!
I want to get this right the first time, and get on with my life with my loving husband in the U.K. 😃
Thanks so much for everything so far UKY folks! You are all such a blessing to us.

Congratulations on your wedding and all the best for applying for your visa :).

I have a general list of documents that should be included, but before I post it, I'll need to know which financial requirement category you are applying under, so I can include the correct documents for that particular category.

My advice would be to thoroughly read the guidance, make sure you understand it and to take your time.
Make sure you have all your evidence in hand before you submit the online application.

And come back with all your other questions!  :)

- Completed VAF4a Appendix 2 form
- Stamped Biometrics Confirmation Sheet (when you have attended the biometrics appointment)

- Optional cover letter
- Proposed flight itinerary
- Receipt for priority processing (if paying for priority)
- Return shipping details

1) how he is eligible to sponsor the visa (his UK citizenship),
2) how he meets the financial requirement (which category and details of current employment),
3) where you will live in the UK (accommodation details),
4) a brief history of your relationship (no more than 1 paragraph, where/how you met, if you visited each other, when you got engaged and married, and why you are choosing to settle in the UK and not the US)
5) a list of all the documents he is including in the application package to support the above requirements

Accommodation
If he owns:
- his Land Registry document (can be downloaded from here for a small fee: https://www.gov.uk/government/organisations/land-registry)

Finances
Category A:
- 6 months of original payslips showing earnings of at least £18,600 (assuming no child dependants are applying too)

- original letter from his current employer stating:
1) how long he has worked there,
2) his current salary,
3) how long he's been earning that current salary,
4) the type of employment

Optional but recommended as the guidance says they may ask for them:
- his original job contract
