In answer to your questions:
1. No, it won't be an issue at all - plans change all the time. As long as you enter together and you don't try to enter before him, it's fine
2. You should go through immigration together - usually the UK/EU line, but if you're not sure, just ask someone at immigration
Note:
Customs is not the same as immigration. Immigration is about visas and being allowed into the country, Customs is about bringing goods into the UK and whether you have to pay tax/duty on them.
- you go through immigration when you get off the plane
- after immigration you go to baggage claim and collect your bags
- then you walk through customs... If you have any goods to declare, you go through the red channel, if not, you go through the green one.
- once you have walked through customs you leave the airport
3. I'm not sure - what does is say on your letter about picking up the BRP? I didn't think the spouse needed to be there but someone mentioned something about it the other day, so now I don't know.
