Info on the vignette transfer
« on: November 12, 2016, 02:14:27 PM »
Thought I would post this to possibly help someone in the future.

So the vignette transfer ended. Long story short , sending it to Sheffield is not correct. Vignette transfers go to New York .... but my passport arrived yesterday from .... Sheffield.

So I guess New York has to touch it and send it to Sheffield. Sending it direct somehow won't do.

So don't be like me ! Lol.

Also, they got the dates wrong and half the time they granted me is gone now .... so the journey continues.

Thanks all.

Oh no!  I was the one who was so sure it was supposed to go to Sheffield.  I am so so sorry.  Not sure how I can make that bit of information up to you!

But I do see where I got that from, as it technically did have to go back to Sheffield for reissuing.   ;)   That's my story and I'm sticking with it!

What happens now?  Are you able to travel within the *new* incorrect dates?

It's all good. It was so damn confusing ... I looked at every possible forum for a straight answer on where to send the thing , and it couldn't be found. I hope they make the process more clear for others.

Anyway, yeah. He still hasn't sold the flat but I'm tired of dealing with the passport going back and forth so I just booked a flight. Leaving in a couple weeks for Edinburgh ... can only stay a few short days due to work. But then going back in January.

I hope going through Edinburgh is ok? Dunno why it wouldn't be .... but now I'm paranoid lol. I usually go through London. And I hope my BRP is really there and waiting for me ... I won't have much time to collect it so ... fingers crossed. I can't take too many more bumps in the road.

:)

Yes. Scotland is one of the four countries that make up the United Kingdom.

It's the Republic of Ireland where it isn't ok to go through as that's a different country to the UK. But because of the Common Travel Area between the UK and RoI, there is no stamp into the UK if you enter from the RoI.
