And on refusals - hopefully this won't happen and seems unlikely - but if it was refused, then we would have to pay all over again?

Unfortunately, yes, you would have to start over and pay for everything again.

Your original IHS surcharge payment would be refunded (though that can take up to 3 months), but you'd have to pay it again for the second application anyway.

So, to reduce the chances of getting refused, you'll want to be thorough with your documents, and double-check them and make sure they are all in the correct format before you submit the application online.

While it is a tick-box visa (tick the boxes, get the visa), little things can trip you up. For example, if your payslips/bank statements are just 1 day short of a full 6 months, the visa could be refused (someone was refused last year because they applied just 1 day before they qualified for the financial requirement).

We're happy to help you get everything sorted, so you can make sure you have the best chance of success.

Not that you need reassurance that Ksand24 is right about Cat A after a pay rise, I can confirm that she is correct.

My husband had a payrise and we still selected Cat A and submitted 6 months worth of payslips and bank statements.  His pay was calculated at the lower rate and we easily received my visa.

Thanks Ksand24 and nctami72 !  Very reassuring.

Yes, I will make sure to have a full 6 months (and a fews days extra) bank statements prior to date of online electronic application... and that these show all 6 monthly wage payments... and that the most recent wage payment is no more than 28 days prior to the online application date.

I think that's right? And then documents must be submitted no more than 4 days after the biometrics appointment?

Thats all the timing requirements I think?
