Biometrics appointment documents
« on: January 30, 2017, 09:26:43 PM »
I'm a bit confused on what to bring to my biometrics appointment. I received two separate emails stating the following;

The first email titled Visa application appointment confirmation......We confirm your appointment with us at our York, PA  office on 02/02/2017 11:00 . The full office address is

York
Meadowlands Business Center
3516 Concord Road
York
Pennsylvania
17402-8698
.

The appointment should last approximately 60 minutes.

Your Biometric Enrolment Appointment

When attending your appointment you must take with you a print out of your appointment confirmation letter (this should be printed in the View Appointment Button above the “Print Your Application Button”) Passport/travel document. Your application will not be accepted at any other location.

The second email titled Visa application confirmation email.......Next Steps–- You must now take your printed application, appointment confirmation, supporting documents and the appropriate fee (unless already paid online) to the address shown below on the date and time of your appointment.

York
Meadowlands Business Center
3516 Concord Road
York
Pennsylvania
17402-8698

Do I need to bring all my documents with me?

No, just the appointment letter and your passport.  :)

The first email is correct, you just take your passport and the biometric appointment confirmation. They will check your passport for ID, stamp your biometrics appointment sheet, take your fingerprints and photo and then you leave. Once you have been to the appointment, you place the passport and stamped sheet with your documents and mail them all to Sheffield.

The second email is more generic and doesn't apply to applications made in the US. However, in other countries, you submit your documents in person at your biometrics appointment instead of mailing them.

In the US though, biometrics are done by US immigration on behalf of UKVI, so they don't have anything to do with your application documents - they're just there to take your biometrics and nothing else.

Bring a book too  ;) Every time I've had my biometrics done the wait has been kind of long.

But you only need your passport and appointment letter, and they'll give you a sheet listing where to send everything off to once it's all done.
Spouse Visa:
Received by Sheffield 19 Nov 2016
Decision Made 26 Jan 2017
Visa Received 30 Jan 2017
Arrived in UK 15 Feb 2017
FLR (M) Biometrics 16 Sep 2019
FLR (M) Approved 17 Sep 2019 (Super Priority)
