FLRM renewal -- which income is required?
« on: January 16, 2017, 11:51:36 PM »
Hi guys, hoping for some help here.

I was laid off from my job on Friday and freaking out a bit as my FLR(M) is up for renewal in a couple of months. I obviously hope I'll have a new position in no time, but the job market isn't exactly rosy. (but hey! I work in research and data analysis. if you're hiring let me know!)
If I have no other work between now and my visa renewal, I don't think I made the £18600 necessary in the previous 12 months (but I might have. it'll be close).
However my partner makes plenty above the threshold, and his very secure in his job. Can I apply for renewal based only on his income, and not include any payslips from mine? Or, even if I'm beneath the threshold, should I include payslips from my past job?

Thanks for any help!

Yep, once you are in the UK and have the right to work, you can either combine your incomes, just use your income, or just use his income to meet the £18,600 threshold for the next 2 visas.

So, if you are not currently working, but your partner meets the requirement, then just use his income on its own (presumably Category A) and you don't need to mention your past income at all.

As it's FLR(M) you can use both or either of your incomes, as ksand said.

As extra re-assurance, last week at my FLR(M) appointment we just used my wife's income (US citizen) as she met the threshold with no qualms whatsoever
