Living Apart on Spousal Visa
« on: February 22, 2017, 11:26:55 PM »
I'm nearly two years through my UK spousal visa and live in Northern Ireland, and have the opportunity to move to London for work. We are very happily married (this is not a separation), but am worried about my visa renewal coming up in 9 months or so.

My husband won't be moving over with me until he finds sufficient work, so I'd rent a room in London and commute back to NI every weekend possible, as well as keep my NI address as my permanent address (as we own our home). Is this against the visa rules? If for some reason he still hasn't moved to London at the time of renewal, will the fact that I am working in London but with an NI address seem suspicious and likely nix my chances of renewal? Even if I'm in NI majority of weekends? Thanks guys.

You'll need to show constant communication while you are away and that it is an "insurmountable obstacle" to move together.  Do that and you'll be fine.
