Big baby clothes
« on: December 12, 2004, 01:18:38 PM »
Im at a loss. My son Jack just turned 6 months and wears a size 12-18 months. I am having a very difficult time finding BABY clothes in that size. I buy most his stuff from NEXT but all their 12-18 mos stuff is very boyish. I dont want to put turn up blue jeans and skater style clothes on my baby. He is a big baby but still should be wearing rompers with fuzzy sheep and teddy bears on it. Where can I get one piece romper suits in his size? So easy in the USA. I brought several back when I was there in Oct but he has outgrown them already. Wish I would have bought more :(

When you say rompers, do you mean the light weight, one piece sleep suits with feet?  A bit like this:

If so, that was bought at Mothercare.  Niall is 22 months and I completely understand what you mean about the 'skater boi' look.  I detest it.  We get a lot of his clothes from Gap or have friends bring over Osh Kosh overalls from the states.

Really what I mean is one piece suits. Not sleep suits but like that without the feet. My other boys were also big but not nearly as big as Jack. I just dont like two piece outfits with babies this young. The scoot around the floor and the shirt always rides up even if you tuck it in it doesnt stay.

Baby Gap has those but I'm not sure what size they go up to.  And have you looked on Ebay?

Hmm, they do get few and far between at 12-18 months.  We did have some of those for Niall (he was also a big baby).  I remember a particularly lovely pair of rugby one piece outfits I picked up a Wooly's.  We liked them so much we went back and bought larger sizes after he grew out of the first ones.  I've also seen one piece suits in Mothercare and Gap.

Oh, I meant to ask.  Have you considered overall outfits?  Yes, they are two pieces, but the shirt won't ride up if baby wiggles around.  I've had great success with overalls (very traditional looking too).

Just wanted to let you know we are having the same trouble with our son. He turns 6 months on the 16th and no clothes to find. Its like every other size is available but his. I tend to find racks and racks of girls clothes, don't look at sizes though, and at most two racks of boys clothes. Down right wrong!

Awwwww... CUTE!

You will have a hard time, Ricki... Xan has looked like a commando for the past year, he was in the 12-18 months old clothing as well.  Have you tried ebay? Sometimes they have american rompers. Just type in the search engine American in the everything category, and have a shuft. It's a pain, but sometimes you actually get lucky.  :-*

Hey Pebbles, I just noticed that Green Baby have exactly what you are looking for, long sleeve/legs baby gros, no feet, up to 24 months, not exactly cheap though, £12.99 each for coloured ones or £10.99 for plain white ones.
