£62,500 criteria help please
« on: May 30, 2017, 05:51:46 PM »
Hi,

I am looking to obtain some information possible please. If a spouse visa is applied for on the basis you have £62,500 in your bank for more then 6 months and it hasn't dropped under this amount, a spouse visa can be applied for.

What I wanted to know is, can I still use this account for normal expenditure etc provided I don't drop below this amount or does it have to remain untouched.

The money has been saved over a period of time, however am slightly confused how it works and what needs to be demonstrated when a visa is applied for under this criteria.

Any help would be great.

Many thanks

It's fine to use the account, have money come in and go out, just as long as it doesn't drop below 62.5kgbp even by a penny or even for a day.

You would need to provide 6 months of official bank statements the most recent of which must be dated within 28 days of your online application.

If your statements are printed from online instead, they would have to be stamped, on every page, as authentic by your bank.

The savings route is the easiest one to demonstrate.  :)

Thank you for replying

The money has been saved, so it's gone from one account to another and also from other means. Will they query how I got the money and where it's come from ??

Example I get paid and want to save lets say X amount so transfer it to the bank, or lets say I put on a naughty bet and win a good amount and it goes into this account. Will this be a factor when application is done ??

Thanks again.

No problem.  :)

Well, the money does have to be from legal sources but apart from that, it doesn't matter how you came by it.
You do have to make a declaration as to the source of the funds, it's one of the questions on the application, but you would just say something like "money saved from earnings over years" or whatever the truth happens to be.

I got it, thank you again :)

Last question, money that i've won betting, could that be used as part of my savings for the £62,500 ?? I'm a pretty keen boxing fan, so do bet when it's on and a lot of times this has returned a good amount, hence why I can show this amount.

Not sure if they would frown upon this or would it be ok ??

Was the money legally obtained? Were these legal bets?
If so, then yes, you can use it.  :) And congratulations on the wins!  :)
