FLR (M) Same day priority
« on: May 22, 2017, 01:26:58 PM »
When you are filling out the forms and paying for the application,  IHS and priority, does it allow you to see available appointments first before you decide if you want to do priority or not?

I only have a short window to apply and prefer to go priority but if there aren't appointments available in the time frame I need I will have to apply by post.

I don't want to have to pay for Priority only to find out if can't get an appointment day that works for us.

I can't tell you for certain because i don't know. But if there's no appointment say in London, you could always go to Peterborough. There's multiple locations to choose from, which might enhance getting the day and time you'll need.

I'm in Scotland so I'll be going to Glasgow. I would be reliant on public transportation so I'm really limited with travel time especially if my husband has to come with me.

You can book in-person appointments up to 42 days in advance.  All the information can be found here:  https://www.gov.uk/ukvi-premium-service-centres

When you go to book, there is a point in the scheduling that will direct you to the IHS website.  You will need to pay the IHS fee at that time and then enter the number produced in order to proceed with the booking.

You a centre choose from a variety of locations, then the day, and then the appointment time.  If I recall, they were spaced about every 10 minutes apart.  Then, once you have chosen the time, you pay the visa fee which is the charge for the FLR(M) extension + in-person fee.

Once all that has been done, you will be sent a checklist with all the information about your appointment which must be printed and presented when you check in for your appoint (at Croydon we arrived 20 minutes early and they made us return when it was 15 minutes before, don't know if the same is true for Glasgow).  You will also want proof of IHS payment and, of course, your FLR(M) form.

So, you will have to pay the IHS charge before you can even look at appointments, but this payment must be done before sending the postal application anyways.  My suggestion would be to be ready to schedule 42 days before your desired in-person appointment date and see what they have available.  I scheduled my 10 May appointment on 3 April and there were plenty of options still available at Croydon.  Hopefully the same holds true for Glasgow.  Good luck!

Thank you very much. This is exactly what I needed to know.

I didn't want to be locked into a priority payment if they didn't have any appointments that suited us. But they did.

I was able to book an appointment in Glasgow for my first preferred day, June 5th.

I needed an appointment in June so our appointment lined up with my husbands most prosperous work periods and would work for the 28 day document rule. And I had to wait to book the appointment until I got my new passport in. I was stressing for nothing.  Lol

Thanks again! Now to start preparing for FLR (M).

Congratulations!  So glad you were approved (and very jealous of your wait time).
