Entering at Airport
« on: May 31, 2017, 12:00:48 PM »
Sorry if this has been covered, but I couldn't find anything.  I queried UK border but was just referred to their general information site that does not address this specific situation.  My US citizen daughter and her US/EU citizen husband will be moving to the UK as they both attend university.  She has her EU Family Permit.  They will be arriving together and he will be entering with his EU passport.  At the airport, which queue for border control should they stand on?

They should go through the same queue together - usually the UK/EU one, since he is an EU citizen, though if they aren't sure, they can always ask an employee at the airport which one they should go through together.

If your daughter is travelling alone in the future, however, she must go through the non-UK/EU line as she is a US citizen.

Some airports have queues specifically for "mixed" passports. That's what we used when entering Heathrow. As Ksand said, helpful employees can tell you where to go!
