Ilr 5 year path.
« on: June 10, 2017, 01:47:40 PM »
In just a matter of days, the first people on the 5 year path can apply for ilr. Will be interesting to see the new forms and see how long the process takes. Still a long time for me to be able to apply. September 2018 cannot come quick enough x

What do you want to bet they don't have a new form before people will qualify?

I just searched and couldn't find any form for ILR on the 5-year route. :-\\\\ I kept getting stuck in the same loop from page to page. ::)

We were one of the last on the old rules (applied end of June 2012, rules changed 9 July). At our FLR appointment (in person, thank goodness), they wanted to consider us under the new rules ('don't worry - you qualify... there will be no problems...' ::) ) but we insisted on being under the old rules since, you know, we should have been under the old rules. ::)

I feel for anyone who didn't know better and was incorrectly put on the 5-year route.

That's because there isn't one yet. They haven't even created any guidance or anything for people who qualify under the 5-year route.

And with all the issues in government right now, I wonder if they've even remembered about it . ::)

I check every couple of days to see if it's come out yet and those were my thoughts this morning!   ;D

Yeah, maybe you would qualify.... but what about the thousands of pounds in fees you would have had to pay unnecessarily!   >:(  So glad you "won" that battle!

Glad I'm not the only one that searched the form every day ;)

Exactly, especially since we 'beat' the introduction of the healthcare surcharge.

Definitely. It's nice having UK citizenship, especially with the current political climate. If I'd been put on the 5-year path, DH and I wouldn't have been able to spend 6 months in Europe and I wouldn't have been able to have a say in the London mayoral election, the EU ref or the election last week. I've definitely been using my UK citizenship and my vote to the max for the last year and a half.

If we'd been under the 5-year rules, I wouldn't even have ILR until December this year (I arrived on a fiance visa).

You're certainly getting your moneys worth!  ;)

We're not until Feb 2018 but I'm just dying to get on with learning the form.
I am however,  *really glad that KFdancer will be going first, this fall,  to test the waters for the rest of us!  ;D

Yup, I feel like I've been here 150 years and have no say!  Don't get me started on not qualifying for the 30 hours of childcare...  I really think Britains stance on immigration may cause them to cut off their nose in spite of their face!

We do qualify for 30 free hours childcare, as long as it is the British citizen applying
