VFS Global Issues
« on: June 16, 2017, 05:30:12 AM »
not sure if this is the right place for this post, but it is Visa related so here it goes.

I am in the process of applying for a general visitor visa.

I've done this successfully the last 2 years. never an issue.

so I've done everything, all my documents sorted everything ready to go. attended my Biometrics for finger printing on 6/15.

I come home from the biometrics, and go on the VFS Global website to purchase the priority service and return shipping label. I am leaving July 3rd.

The VFS Global website simply does not work. No matter what I try. I tried 3 different computers, 2 operating systems, 4 different web browsers. Nothing.

I fill out the information on the User Pay Services page and it gives me the options of what I can purchase. I try to "add the service to my basket" and it acts as if it is adding it but it still says "0" in the cart area.

Then when clicking save and continue, it sends you an error "Error occured, please contact to site admin"

This happens every time. I've tried the priority service, the return courier, the round trip courier. Ever time it is the same thing.

I called the UKVI support line I think it is? The one in the UK that charges you 1.34 per minute. They basically said nothing they can do, technical error with the website. And the guy also confirmed that other people were having issues.

His solution after 15 minutes on the call was to read the FAQ and send them a complaint. Beyond unhelpful.

So my question now is this. What on earth do I need to do?

I know I don't technically need to have the visitor visa beforehand but I have terrible anxiety and it is one less thing for me to worry about.

So my other option would be, I purchase a prepaid UPS shipping label my self and I just send my application with everything to the office in New York.

Or I wait? But it is getting awfully close to July 3rd now. I've never had an issue before and always have used priority service where the turnaround is about 5 business days if not less.

Oh man, the VFS website has caused a lot of issues around here.  Unfortunately the only advice I've seen is to wait a day and try again.  It'll go back up eventually. I know that's not the answer you want to hear.  I can't speak to how fast a visit visa might be processed and I'm sorry this is happening to you, how stressful.

This happened to me when I tried to do it for my spousal visa. I used UPS both ways and it was fine. The call centre was just like sorry can take up to a week to fix. I know others saw the problem resolved in 24-48 hours though...
