FLR Application and Biometric Residence Permits
« on: June 15, 2017, 12:17:12 AM »
Hello Everyone,

Quick Question. My wife and i have just submitted the online application for the FLR visa and have everything ready to send off. At the very end of the application it mentions about the Biometrics card but doesn't say what happens once you go to the Post Office.

Do you have to include something from the post office in your posted application package or do they pass that on independently, without our input?

Many Thanks

Do you mean taking your biometrics at the Post Office, or picking up your biometric card at a Post Office?

If you mean taking biometrics for the visa application, I mailed off all my documents for the FLR(M), and the Home Office mailed me a letter to take to my nearest Post Office for biometrics. It had a barcode on the top and my application information. The woman who did mine said it was all hooked up to your application electronically so I didn't need to mail anything back. This was last November so something might have changed since then.

The process is as follows:

- mail off your FLR(M) application and documents to UKVI
- wait for UKVI to send you a letter inviting you to give biometrics at a post office
- make an appointment with the post office
- go to the post office, pay for biometrics and have them taken
- go home
- wait for the visa to be processed

The biometrics are transmitted electronically from the post office to UKVI (same as when you give biometrics in the US) - once they receive them they can start processing your application.

- make an appointment with the post office

I'm not sure if it varies by location, but I didn't need an appointment. Just walked right in. (West Nile St location in Glasgow, only a couple weeks ago). The letter that's sent implies they don't take appointments: "....all you need to do it visit a participating Post Office branch. There may be a queue for this service. To make your visit as quick as possible, we recommend that you visit the Post Office on a Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday as this is when branches are at their quietest."

Ah, okay - thanks for the info... I debated whether to keep that part in as I wasn't sure if it was done by appointment or not.

I meant taking the biometerics at the post office and you answer my question perfectly, thank you :)
