Must UK citizen "Place Residency" for spouse visa?
« on: July 23, 2017, 04:15:07 AM »
Hi ALL--

My spouse is a UK citizen and has her passport although she has never worked or lived in the UK for any length of time. (Except for summers spent with her grandparents etc.) We are planning a move over and are planning on getting me a spouse visa but we are wondering if she needs to go over and "place residency" for some length of time before I apply?

We are aware of the money issues on the  spouse visa and she is not planing on moving ahead of me and getting a job. Instead we are planning on going with our savings to meet the money requirements for the visa.

Her parents also live in the UK and are gracious enough to offer us a place to live until we get settled to that fulfills the housing part of the visa issue.

Thanks in advance.

I've never heard of the term 'place residency' before, but no, she doesn't need to do that. Simply being a UK citizen means she meets the requirement to sponsor you.

As long as she either arrives in the UK with you or just before you, she does not have to already be living in the UK. What you can't do is enter the UK BEFORE her.
