Accommodation Question - New House
« on: August 07, 2017, 09:30:44 PM »
Hi all,

I'm about to apply for my second FLR(M) extension. (I entered as a fiance in 2014, married and applied for FLR(M) in 2015, and am now applying for an extension.)

We've been living at the same rented flat since I entered the UK. We recently bought a new house (hooray), but are doing some fixing up before moving. We don't intend to move until late September.

Question: What should I be disclosing on my application? We still are living in the flat with permission of our landlord/roommate, and have letters of permission from both him and the property management company. We will still be living here when I send in my application, and very likely when my new visa is issued. However, the application has lots of forward-looking statements like "where do you intend to live in the UK?"

I've already mentioned the new mortgage under shared financial obligations. My thought is to mention it in the "other information" section, and in the covering letter. But I'm concerned I would need to provide lots more detail about the new house.

Advice?

Congratulations!  We only just moved into our house at the end of November last year (after offering in May and completing in October).  We decided to go ahead in live in ours while we do the fixing up, so now, here I am 8 months later with no kitchen, preparing all our meals in our laundry room!  Good call waiting to move 'til you're ready! :)

Fortunately, my FLR(M) was completed and new BRP in hand before we even offered on our house, so I don't really know how to advise you.  I think I would list the address at the flat, along with the landlord and property manager letters.

You say you've mentioned the mortgage under shared financial obligations, so the home purchase is complete... so you have land registry and mortgage documents available.  I assume the only additional detail you'd need to show is that there are enough rooms to accommodate everybody everybody who will live there.
9/1/2013 - "fiancée" (marriage) visa issued
4/6/2013 - married (certificate issued same-day)
5/6/2013 - FLR(M)#1 in person -- approved!
8/1/2016 - FLR(M)#2 by post -- approved!
8/5/2018 - ILR in person -- approved!
22/11/2018 - Citizenship (online, with NDRS+JCAP) -- approved!
14/12/2018 - I became a British citizen.  :)

Not an issue.  :)  You provide the accommodation evidence  for the flat that you mention there because that is where you are living. Fine to explain about the new house in your letter or the any other information section.

Congratulations on the purchase.  :)
