Question about NIN
« on: July 10, 2018, 03:55:31 PM »
Hi guys! Does anyone know how long it takes to get your NI number? Does anyone have any personal experiences of their own in regards to how long they waited?

Thanks!

Not long, a few weeks at most.

I concur.

I applied a little over a year ago and had it in my hands in total of maybe 3 weeks.

I am in the process right now. I called to get one and the interview they scheduled (first available) was 10 days out. My interview was July 2nd and they said hopefully 3 weeks but it should be no later than August 18. Hope that helps!

Agreed. I just made a phone call, they sent the application in the mail. Returned it with proper documentation and a few weeks later done deal. No interview. Took 3-5 weeks total.

I had my interview on the 18th. I just got it this Saturday. It took it's time to come. I'm in London so that's probably why everything is slow.

Okay, cool. Thanks for a general consensus guys! Just wondering how long I have to wait before I can work and list my NIN on my applications :)

Well, you can work before you get the NIN - but the issue is that a lot of applications ask for it, so it makes things easier if you already have it first (and you'll get taxed correctly from the beginning).
