Transfer USD to GBP
« on: August 26, 2017, 01:32:33 AM »
This may have already been addressed and I did do research and found that people like Transferwise to transfer funds, but I was wondering if anyone has use anything else. Something that gave them a great exchange without taking too much away.

Thank you in advance.

When I transferred money a couple of months ago I looked at Xoom, Paypal, and Transferwise. On $3000, Transferwise gave me close to $100 more than Xoom, and even better against Paypal..
It was a bit of a pain to set up, partly because I use a small local credit union, but other than that it was fine. I would advise setting everything up a week or so before you need the cash in the UK to make sure it's ready when you need it.

Thank you. We looked at PayPal and my fiancé looked at postal something in the UK, transferwise was the best deal. I just want to make sure.

Thank you again!

I've only compared it to xe.com because I used to use xe but Transferwise was the better deal.

The Transferwise account was a breeze to set up compared with the xe account and the transfers come through so much faster (literally by days) too.

I use Transferwise to move money between my accounts and for when my kids come to visit. They deposit their money into my US account and then I transfer to my UK account. It gives them the best conversion rate.

Xoom is what I used to use when I was a student and my mom went money. That was good because it was pretty much immediate. From inside the UK it doesn't allow me to access it to send money to myself though. Transferwise is a better rate anyway. Recently I used it on recommendation of everyone here and it was great. It took about ten hours for the money to go in.
