I called the Consulate General in L.A. to find out what was going on with my spousal visa application since they had requested 3 additional documents not on the list on their www site, and the woman who was working my case was out - until next week. So I asked the clerk who was on the phone if that meant that my visa wasn't going to be worked on for another week since I had plans to fly out next week. She asked me to hold on and typed a few things in her computer and returned to tell me that my visa had been issued and was mailed out today. I should have all my papers back tomorrow. Took them 3 weeks and 2 days to finish it so I was starting to sweat.
Today I spent driving to Houston, buying plane tickets and a little more luggage and generally feeling like nothing in the world could bother me. Next Thursday I fly out to London, via Philadelphia - plane tickets round trip by the way were $554 with a June return date and an option to change the return date for $200 - I know airfare is a popular topic right now. Oh, I used US Airways. I've never flown them but won't be able to say that after next week. Would have preferred British Airways but their price of $2800 for flights out next week was out of the question.
Finally I will get to spend time with my wife and not have to look at a clock or calendar to see how many days/hours I have left until I have to leave her.
