It's not a big deal ... it would be nice to not have to wait what felt like an eternity again and have it over our heads all over Xmas ... but alas we will manage that part of it .. least we are together for this visa application and not doing it from different continent's!

That's the thing!  We applied by post and it was a much more comfortable wait than the first visa.

Should I put something along the lines of he has been added to the bills however due to current visa is not able to work/contribute to them? (Gas electric water )

I'd say something more like, he will start contributing once he is able to get a job but until then, he can't/doesn't.

Yay - it’s been taking around 5 or 6 weeks lately... their processing standards time is 8 weeks.

Yes, it's quick right now as ksand said!

Do your biometrics as soon as the letter comes, then forget all about it!

Good luck! ;D

Any idea what to expect now? ...they have the application ...and in the next few days I'm sire we'll get an email acknowledgement ... (I hope!) Then What?

Do they send the biometrics invite fairly quickly? Do they take payment first? Does getting the biometrics invite a good sign it will be a positive outcome?
If it's a negative outcome do they refund the IHS charge early on?

All we can do now is sit and wait ...

There’s no communication by email for FLR(M) - it’s all done by post.

Usually the order is:
- payment is taken a few days after application is received
- acknowledgement letter is mailed out after 1-2 weeks
- biometrics invite letter is mailed out around the same time
- you give biometrics at a Post Office (cost £19.20
- once the biometrics have been taken, they can start processing the application... so you sit back and wait.

The biometrics are a requirement and are taken before they even look at the application - they don’t start processing until after you have given biometrics so the invite letter means nothing, other than that you have applied for a visa.

If it’s a refusal, they won’t refund the IHS until after the visa has been processed and refused and then it can take up to 3 months to receive the refund... so you’ll likely get the refusal before you see any money refunded.

This is nothing - you’ll be waiting maybe 5-6 weeks... back in 2012, there were massive backlogs and it was taking 10-12 months to process FLR(M) applications, with it taking something like 2-4 months just to receive the biometrics letter!
