Last minute issue with bank statements!
« on: February 02, 2018, 10:23:53 AM »
Hello.

My wife is planning to move to the UK and we have been gathering all the evidence and were hoping to post my evidence to her today. The last bit we needed were the bank statements.

Today I went into the bank to get my bank statements from NatWest for the previous 6 months, so it covers every pay day (last working day of the month), only to find they could only print & stamp 6 months from September to today, leaving me with only 5 pay dates missing the August 31st pay. The lady said the system would not go back that far as it only goes to 6 months. Anything further back would need to be ordered online, which takes 5 working days.

This is obviously not good news as the printouts showing 5 pay dates does not meet the requirements however I am wondering how I can get around this?

I have with me :

As mentioned above, the September 2017 to today bank statements, printed today by bank employee, all stamped with logo/today's date by NatWest employee.

The employee also printed off an unofficial print out, usually only looked at by the bank employees, showing my August pay going into my account. This has no letterhead and just looks like a very basic document produced on notepad. She did stamp it just in case it could help.

I also have 2 sets of old bank statements sent through the post showing my August pay (the month I require that Natwest could not print out in the bank).

The first set is the typical NatWest A5 style printouts that they send every 3 or so months.

The second set I ordered online via NatWest just to see what they look like in preparation for our visa application. These came on NatWest letter headed paper, with my branch code/account number and all my money details.

Obviously both the sets of online bank statements are not stamped but is it possible to combine what I have stamped by the bank in person with these online bank statements that NatWest sent me through the post? Would this be allowed?

Just to add. I have my work payslips all signed + letter from employer all dated from 1st Feb, so I feel like the clock is already ticking! Helppppp!

PS - If the combination of the above doesn't help, what would you suggest?

Everything you have is acceptable.

The statements sent through the post are official and can be used.

The statements you ordered online are official and can be used.

The unofficial statement that was printed in branch and stamped by the bank employee is also fine to use.

Nothing to worry about at all.  Just be sure you have a full six months (from at least August 1st to February 1st for example.

KFDancer just said everything I was going to say - everything you have is acceptable and you have more than enough to cover the whole 6 months.

- statements that are ordered/sent in the mail are official and do not need to be stamped
- official statements printed by the bank do not need to be stamped
- the unofficial statement from August probably doesn’t need to be stamped (as it was printed in branch) but it’s probably good to be on the safe side

The only time statements need to be stamped is if you printed them yourself at home from online banking. They need to be stamped to prove you didn’t forge them online.

Thank you both for your quick responses and for bringing my heart rate back to normal.

Also this thread will probably save my life too.

When I tell my wife that the bank couldn't print August, these answers will stop her panicking (and yelling at me).  ;D
