Four faults - three for checking the mirrors at the same time as I signaled rather then prior, and one for lane position in a weird Y intersection the likes of which I have never seen before (I kept to the right as I was going across the Y to the right, and someone pulled up to my left and also went across to the right. Examiner said I should have stayed more in the middle of the lane "because people will take a yard if you give them an inch, like that yabbo." ;)

Humorously, my certificate says I passed the test for a full license, not automatic. I assume that will be fixed before they issue the actual card.

Yay!! Congrats!!

Maybe you got yourself a full license! I think they base it off the paperwork. A perk!!
The usual. American girl meets British guy. They fall into like, then into love. Then there was the big decision. The American traveled across the pond to join the Brit. And life was never the same again.

Thanks all!  ;D

I had three dings for mirrors - I know one was because there was a group of kids followed by another group of kids crossing at a corner I was told to turn at. So I waited back a bit for them all to straggle across (10 feet back from the corner) and then flipped my signal on and pulled up to the corner. I had already checked a few seconds earlier and there was nobody behind me. But I think I got dinged for it. I got dinged for not looking in my rearview mirror while reversing two car lengths. I had checked carefully prior to moving, and there was nobody near and no way for anyone to get near in the 10 seconds it took for me to back up (while watching over my shoulder at the curb side). Short of someone parachuting in to land just behind me!   ;)   I ~think~ I got my third mirror ding on the roundabout, but I'm not sure. One of the roundabouts.  The lane thing was definitely at the Y intersection thingy. The road was plenty wide, and the way cars were lining up I assumed it was a "two lanes go right" situation. OOps.

Whatever, I passed! Tommy Automatic actually slapped me on the back in congratulations!  That man is a really good driving instructor - very patient. Not always intelligible, but patient. Knows "stuff" about how to build confidence and calm nerves. I would highly recommend him to anyone. The Daughter is supposedly going to take lessons with him when the weather gets better. (Good luck to the both of them - she gets prickly when she's nervous.)

I do wonder about the automatic v full license... I guess I'll have to bring it to their attention if the wrong one arrives, or it will bite me at some point in the future.  And yeah, now I can start looking for airfares and rental cars. There were some good airfares the other day - so hopefully I can still get one.  Yea, I can go home and have Bacon Cheddar Chipotle Fries!!!!  ;D ;D ;D ;D

Thanks, all. It arrived in the mail today. I'm now "official." I look remarkably like my father, I have to say. (sigh) My hair (which is white) disappears into the background, too! But I've got a "full" license now (with restrictions to automatic transmissions). With the little EU flag up the top left, and the UK flag on the right side. Probably one of the last with the EU flag - I wonder if they'll make me get a new one because of that, after March? (I assume not.)

And I had missed this bit, but it's not good for 10 years. It's good until I turn 70, and then I have to renew it every 3 years. Which is ok, I can do it online and all, with the approval of my doctor. And not unreasonable, really. The last thing I ever want to do is be one of those old ladies I used to make fun of when I was a teenager - they drove big cars, wore big hats, had blue hair, sat on like three pillows so all you saw was the hats as they reached up for the steering wheel, drove down the middle of the road, and went like 5mph because they either couldn't see worth a damn or their reactions were so slowed with age.  ;) ;D

Apparently I'm allowed to drive a tractor, too.  8)
