Splurge and do it, I reckon ... this far down the line - it's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity :)

Would you splurge for the private ceremony Larabee?  I envisioned my kids being there.  I just need to decide if I want to part with MORE money.

Absolutely! ;D  It's a drop in the ocean compared to what you've already spent and you will never do this again.  It needs to be the way you want it! :D

I got my ceremony invitation in the mail from Wokingham Council today.  Still awaiting the letter from the Home Office though!  Lol!

BUT they have a strict two guest rule for the ceremony and I want my little family to attend.  I called and it's a strict rule.  Baby in arms counts as a guest.  Boo.  The only way to have all four of us is to do a private ceremony.  Which is another £126 <sigh>.  Do I splurge and do it?

If you look at £126 in the context of all the other fees you've paid in already, it's a mere pittance.  And having your family there is important to you.  I say go for it!

Also, I have decided to modify the spreadsheet to include a column for the date of the invitation to a ceremony, as that was the first indication that your application had progressed.  Yay!
9/1/2013 - "fiancée" (marriage) visa issued
4/6/2013 - married (certificate issued same-day)
5/6/2013 - FLR(M)#1 in person -- approved!
8/1/2016 - FLR(M)#2 by post -- approved!
8/5/2018 - ILR in person -- approved!
22/11/2018 - Citizenship (online, with NDRS+JCAP) -- approved!
14/12/2018 - I became a British citizen.  :)

Do you still have all the historical fees for FLR(M) and such for the years passed?

Thanks friends.  You've made me not feel guilty about paying more.  I'll book the private ceremony in the morning so my little family can come.  :)

I only ever researched ILR, because it was a bit of a shock when I learned how much it had gone up since my second FLR(M) at the end of 2015.  But I will post those figures below, and I'll see if I can research FLR(M) over the same years.  Marriage and Spousal visas might also be useful to others who want to be depressed looking at how much they've spent.

Quote
Annual ILR Application Fee (applying by post)

2007: £750
2008: £750 (no increase)
2009: £820 (9.3% increase)
2010: £840 (2.4% increase)
2011: £972 (8.6% increase)
2012: £991 (2% increase)
2013: £1051 (6% increase)
2014: £1093 (4% increase)
2015: £1500 (37% increase)
2016: £1875 (25% increase)
2017: £2297 (22.5% increase)
2018: £2750* (19.7% increase)
2019: £3250 (18.2% increase)

* The 2017/2018 fee is speculated.  The 2019 fee is based on statutory limits.

I'm eligible in 2021 I believe. I dread what it'll be then.

I think it'll be worth it if you have the cash. Proud moment for you :)

Definitely worth the private ceremony. I attended a friends a few years back and it just made it feel so much more personal (especially after her 7 year nightmare).

Congrats KF!! Well done. I'll be on your heels doing it in the new year.
