Spousal Visa Appl Travel issue..
« on: December 16, 2017, 11:55:09 AM »
Hi All-

First the good news. I have finally filled out my visa application and scheduled my biometric appointment!!

Here is the question on what I hope is a minor issue. On the application they ask about travel other than to the UK in the last 10 years. We had a couple of trips that we listed no problem however one trip was to the small Caribbean island of Saint Martin, which was NOT listed on the available drop down menu. My wife and I looked up and down the menu several times. All the other Saint Islands were there, Saint Barts, Saint Lucia...... No Saint Martin.

We did not think of putting something in the end section for "Additional Information" until after we had finished the application. Obviously the stamp is on my passport and I don't want the Clearance Officer thinking I was not honest on my application.

So the question is how should I proceed having finished my visa application? Should I add a sentence in my Applicant Cover letter explaining this issue? Should I hand write this issue on my application? Both? Or is it better just to not draw attention to the issue because this would make my application invalid?

Looks like I might make it in the December list right at the very end!!! Fingers crossed!!

Thanks so much,

NWKH

No, you should list ALL your travel.

You can either add it to the application form in pen, or include it on a separate 'additional information' sheet, or do both - it's up to you.

I'm not sure how thoroughly they check your passport stamps, to be honest. Some people actually have the opposite problem where they may have been to a country several times but were not stamped in (i.e. Canada), so they've listed all their trips on their application, but their passport shows no evidence of them.

So when adding to the travel to the from in pen would you advise adding it right in the travel section? And in terms of an "additional information sheet" would that be typed separate sheet I attach to the end?

I will now cover my bases and mention it in my application letter and tell them that Saint Martin is not in the drop down AND do both of the above in the proper way!!

You are the best!!!

Possibly was listed as Sint Maarten, but neither here nor there.  Just hand write and don't lose any sleep over it.   :)

All-

The biometrics went super smooth here in NYC. Was out the door in about 20 minutes just as everyone had predicted.

We have all the paperwork and application ready to go and will do the Settlement Priority Processing and shipping label in the AM.

Here is what we think is our last question. No promises :-) As my sponsor is a dual US/UK citizen and has been living here in the US since she was a child, all of her travel back to the UK has been done on her USA passport. We are wondering if it will seem odd to the Entry Clearance Officer that my application lists yearly visits to the UK but when they pull up her UK passport info there is no travel listed.

Should we mention in her cover letter this situation and give her US passport number?

Thanks...

As far as I am aware they will not pull up her UK passport info, so there’s nothing to explain. It’s YOUR previous travel history that they are interested in - they don’t care about hers.

You are providing a copy of her UK passport photo page to prove:
a) she’s a UK citizen and is eligible to sponsor a visa
and
b) she is over 18 and therefore meets the minimum age requirement for the visa

They might run the passport number to confirm it’s genuine but I doubt they will look at anything else.
